The Free School of Bachata

The Free School of Bachata is a collective and evolving learning space for bachata dance, based on horizontal transmission, autonomy, and collective intelligence. Inspired by active pedagogies (notably Montessori and free education), it breaks with the traditional “teacher/student” model to offer an approach where everyone is both learner and transmitter, according to their level, experience, and sensitivity.

In this school, there is no fixed hierarchy or prescribed path. Beginners learn from intermediate dancers, intermediate dancers learn from advanced dancers, and experienced dancers deepen their mastery by passing on their knowledge in turn. Progress is made through exchange, observation, practice, and sharing.
